The artwork in it is by Jessica Joy Hiemstra. These drawings were used in a film and writing project called WE WERE HERE led by writer Mary Fairhurst Breen. The purpose of the project is to offer a glimpse into the shortened lives of just eleven of thousands of Ontarians killed by fentanyl in recent years. This project focuses on the lives of these 11 young people - who they could have been, and how loved they are. Every month has drawings from one person featured in each film (Alex, Austin, Brock, Destin, Katie, Hilary, Sophie, Madalyn, Nathan, Ula and Zach).
20% of sales from these calendars is donated to Street Health, which daily strives to address systemic barriers to health through accessible services, education and advocacy based in the principles of harm reduction.
