On Noticing

I’ve been making art out of plastic waste this month – thinking about what it means to clean up and whether or not it’s possible. I like making stuff with all the detritus, but the truth is my heart is most attached to working with these plastic bag scraps. I'm strangely attracted to plastic bags. Their translucency. The light passing through them. The way they sway in trees. They call to me, strangely – even though I’m repulsed by them. I like to think of trees grabbing bags out of the sky. Those trees are as much actors as we are.
